PRAFS 4840

Eight " PRAFS" robots for components up to 4,200 mm—with flexible setups for single- and multi-part measurements.

Large components place different demands on the mounting system

Different component geometries require different mounting concepts. The position and number of contact points must be tailored to the component’s stiffness, while ensuring that the relevant measurement ranges remain accessible to the optical sensor. The PRAFS 4840 can be customized for this purpose to accommodate a large single component or a suitable configuration consisting of two smaller parts. Side frames and interior door panels are just a few examples of possible applications.

While the PRAFS 3620 is designed for components up to 3,000 mm, the PRAFS 4840 expands the concept to eight robots and components up to 4,200 mm. In addition to a large structural component, two smaller components can also be loaded together and measured in a single automated process, provided the configuration is appropriate.

Your Benefits with the PRAFS 4840

Eight robots for different component geometries and flexible measurement processes

The PRAFS 4840 combines flexible mounting concepts with robot positions optimized for digital processing—for large individual components as well as for multi-part measurements.

Components up to 4,200 mm

Flexible mounting, even for large structural components

Eight " PRAFS" robots

Position the contact points to match the component geometry and measurement strategy.

Single-part or multi-part measurement

Accommodate and measure one large component or, with the appropriate configuration, two smaller components.

Flexible " KIOSK" Analysis

Joint measurement process without repositioning, with evaluation either as part of a multi-part project or separately.

PRAFS 4840 in Action

Eight " PRAFS" robots. Flexible component handling. Automated measurement processes.

The video shows the PRAFS 4840 in the ZEISS ScanBox —from the scanning of a complete side frame to the multi-part measurement of two inner door panels.

The eight " PRAFS" robots position the contact points according to the specific measurement task. In the system configuration shown, an additional handling robot equipped with a vacuum gripper performs the automatic loading.

This allows for a variety of measurement tasks to be carried out using a flexible mounting system.

Two components in the measurement process

Joint acquisition for automated multi-part measurement.

Planned digitally.
Implemented in a reproducible manner.

The parts and measurement strategy are prepared in ZEISS VMR . Using PRAFS-EMUSIM, the robot positions and motion sequences can be adjusted accordingly.

Saved setups can be recalled at any time. Virtual Clamping supports evaluation in a digital assembly state.

Automatic Assembly

In the system shown, an additional handling robot equipped with a vacuum gripper handles the loading and unloading of the components.

Automatic component placement is a particularly useful addition when working with large components: It eliminates the need for manual insertion, and the component feed can be integrated directly into the automated measurement process.

This feature is optional and is tailored to the specific measurement task.
