Initial sampling
Quality from the first component produced
In the area of initial sampling, the first molded components are inspected for dimensional accuracy. Depending on the customer’s system, this can be done by feature plan or drawing.
The minimum result of the initial sampling is a detailed measurement report including a stamped drawing. In addition, various analysis evaluations are possible. We can realize them according to your requirements.

Initial sampling Process description
Needs assessment for your requirement
We are aware of our role in the component upgrade process. Therefore, needs assessment is one of the most important steps for successful and consistent initial sampling. Our experts inquire about all relevant topics concerning the component. The focus here is not only on the presentation of results, but also on special features and standards.
Evaluation program generation
The work begins with the generation of the evaluation template based on the CAD data. To ensure systematic and uniform naming, the associated drawing is stamped accordingly. CAD and drawing are also checked for plausibility and any standard violations are uncovered. After a joint meeting, an evaluation strategy is defined for all characteristics. Even before the first measurement, a “blank” measuring report is generated.
3D acquisition
In this process step, the data acquisition takes place. This can be done MANUALLY or AUTOMATICALLY.
3D ACQUISITION MANUAL
Smaller components up to a size of approx. 300 mm x 300 mm are usually measured manually with a compact device. The number of pieces of the component is also a decision criterion.
In this process step, the real component is required for the first time. Data acquisition is carried out with a suitable ATOS sensor with the appropriate measuring volume as well as the ideal measuring strategy.
3D ACQUISITION AUTOMATED
Larger and more complex components from approx. 300 mm x 300 mm are more likely to be measured automatically with a device consisting of individual elements. A higher number of parts is also crucial for automated part capture. For this purpose, the virtual measuring program generation is carried out first. Only then are the real components needed.
Data acquisition is performed with an ATOS 5X sensor and the appropriate measuring volume in the ZEISS ScanBox 6235 on WITTE measuring plates. Whether the vertical or the horizontal measuring plate is used is determined by the fixture / component.
The advantage of the automated option is a very high repeatability when measuring multiple components, as there is no influence from the measuring technician. In addition, with this option, various clamping situations can be carried out quickly and at low cost.
Measurement data processing
Data preparation takes place in post-processing. By polygonizing the acquired measuring points, they are converted to a triangular mesh (polygon mesh).
Sampling
In this process step, the final generation of the actual feature elements takes place on the basis of the programmed evaluations.
The individual features are checked for plausibility and completeness.
Measuring results / test report
The measuring report is created. In the four-eyes principle, all features are checked again for plausibility.
Finally, a final conference is held with the client.
